Richard Verschoor is still relatively new to the Series – the young Dutchman only joined MP Motorsport in Spa. Last week in Russia, Verschoor started from seventh place in Race 1 and took P4 at the flag. In Race 2, Richard drove a mature race to claim his first podium finish with third place to score 22 points overall. Colour us impressed!

It was not a question of “if” but a matter of “when”. ART Grand Prix claimed their eighth GP3 Series Team crown following Saturday’s Race 1 at the Sochi Autodrom. That’s a lot of stars to carry back home! Congratulations from all of us at The Insider magazine.

Arden International enjoyed their strongest weekend of the 2018 season: first, Joey Mawson took P8 in Race 1 which meant he started from reverse pole in Race 2. The Australian driver kept the lead at the start and displayed some mighty defending moves to keep David Beckmann at bay. Unfortunately, Joey yielded on the last lap at Turn 13 and had to settle for P2. His teammate Gabriel Aubry scored more precious points for the British squad with P6 on Sunday.

Nikita Mazepin was really looking forward to his home event. So when he went quickest in qualifying, it felt very special. However, his joy was crushed when it was found he had exceeded track limits on his fastest lap. He eventually started from P8 and to the crowd’s utter delight he put his head down and carved his path through the field to take P2. He was on the way for another podium in Race 2 but he locked up at Turn 13 in the closing laps and ended his course into the barrier.
