How big is your family?
Average size! I’ve got one brother Max, my mom and my dad.

French fries or chocolate cake?
French fries.

If you were an animal, what would it be?
A panda because I’d be having a great time all the time, rolling down hills…!

What’s your favourite pastime?
Wasting time! No, field hockey. I played it at school because I was not good enough to be in the football team [laughs]. I play it when I can.

What’s the last book you read?
Spook Streets by Mick Herron.

If you could be any film character, who would it be?
Mr Bean! I’ve said that in one of your other Insider interviews so I have to keep it symmetrical! He has Minis, I love them. Plus he’s British like me…

Can you tell us one thing nobody knows about you?
I wanted to be a train when I was younger. When you are a kid you have unrealistic dreams. I dreamed about either being a train or a racing driver, but train came first. But I settled for racing driver…

Favourite person to follow on social media?
Daniel Riccciardo because he is hilarious. It’s more impressive because he’s in F1. I feel like it’s easier to be different when you’re in GP3 whereas in F1 there are so many more restrictions, but he does a good job.

What’s the best thing about racing?
Winning. Actually, not losing!

What’s your favourite moment of a race?
The start: that’s when everything is going on.

Your biggest rival this season?
George, yes, it’s got to be.

Your favourite person in your team?
It’s hard to choose, but it has to be Nirei! All my friends ask me “who is that crazy Japanese guy?” It’s Nirei. Just Nirei!

Do you prefer to have a teammate who is faster or slower than you?
It depends. If I could get a teammate who is always quickest than me only in practice, that would be perfect!

Define yourself as a driver in three words.
Smart, fast and faster [laughs]!

What is your non-racing dream?
You’ve heard it already: to be a train. I have to get back to my roots! Or a panda. Can I combine the two? A panda-themed train. Or a panda driving the train. It seems reasonable [laughs].
