Daniel Ticktum impressed the rest of the field on his second GP3 race weekend: he qualified P4 and took the flag in the same position in Race 1 to claim 12 points. He looked very racy in Race 2 but contact with Niko Kari in the closing stages ruined his chances of a podium finish. He’s moved up five places in the Drivers’ standings making him the most improved racer of the week.
Dorian Boccolacci has shown strong pace and neat racecraft throughout the 2017 season, but since Barcelona Race 2 he was always missing out on a podium finish. It would appear that Spain brings the Frenchman luck: the Trident man took P2 in Race 2 in Jerez.
Tatiana Calderón enjoyed a season’s best qualifying result with P8, but her hopes for more points were crushed at the start following a small contact with a competitor. She eventually classified a disappointing P13. Her pace was strong again on Sunday and she was able to move up the field to take P8 at the flag, adding one more point to her tally.
